On The Road Again

Livingston, Texas

(March 15, 2007)

We made it .... we are now at "home". This is our mail forwarding company in Livingston, Texas. Escapees is about six miles from Livingston which has a population of 5433 people. Well, I think they may have included a few dogs and cats in the number.

The "park" is nice. It is not as fancy as some of the ones we have been in, but the people are very friendly.

One problem we RVers, with TV antennas on our roofs, have with trees is that they can block our line of sight to the satellite. You can see our RV is more forward than the other RVs are. I pulled in and started the auto-track antenna to see if the trees would be a problem. I found the spot and locked on to the satellite and the put the leveling jacks down. The jacks don't move the RV much, but when they leveled the RV the satellite lock was broken and we lost our signal. OK, I just moved back a little bit and started over again. The same thing happened several times. I finally found the "sweet spot" that worked and I left it alone. We were lucky that we weren't parked out in the middle of the driveway.

This is the first time that I had to set up our internet via satellite since we left California. Since we plan to spend some time here. So, after a couple of day I started. I could find different satellites, but none of the seemed to be the right one. I checked and rechecked everything. After about four hours, the correct satellite suddenly appeared and all was good. It did take moving the unit three to different locations. All is well that ends well, right???

This park has a mix of rental spaces and purchased lots. There are some very simple spaces that have nothing on them to simple covered parking.

We are now Texans! Our driver's license and vehicle registrations have been switched and we are all legal.

We are walking a lot. Everyone we pass either waves or stops to talk. We have met some very nice people.

There is a doctor living in his trailer and trying to get a practice going in the campground.
